Hello everyone! We’re the Ekeroth family — Tedd, Krystina, and our three wonderful daughters (ages 10, 8, and 4). We’re proud to be the new market managers for the Rancho Peñasquitos and Carmel Valley Farmers Markets and are excited to serve our community in this new chapter.

Tedd was born and raised right here in San Diego. A true local, he loves surfing, snowboarding, and just about any sport that gets him outdoors. He’s also deeply rooted in the community through his work with Master Sports, an organization that runs camps, classes, and leagues throughout San Diego County—helping kids stay active, build confidence, and have fun.

Krystina is originally from San Jose and works as a night doula, supporting families through the early stages of parenthood. Beyond her professional role, she’s a dedicated mother and the heart of our home. Together, we’ve been married since 2013 and share a passion for family, community, and giving back.

Our Mission and Non-Profit

Our family founded a nonprofit organization called Little Hearts of Joy, which supports families with children born with heart conditions. This cause is very close to our hearts—one of our daughters was born with pulmonary stenosis, and during that time, we faced our own challenges finding nearby housing and keeping up with bills. The Ronald McDonald House was full, and the only available Airbnb was a two-story home. It was tough—Krystina had just had a C-section, and climbing stairs was a struggle.

Through these experiences, we realized how critical community support can be during medical crises. Little Hearts of Joy was born from that experience, to help other families facing similar hardships find comfort, assistance, and hope when they need it most.

Looking Ahead

As market managers, we’re thrilled to build on the amazing foundation of Rancho Peñasquitos and Carmel Valley Farmers Markets—supporting local vendors, connecting neighbors, and creating a space that uplifts our community. For us, the farmers markets are more than just a place to shop—they’re a place to come together, nurture connections, and spread a little more joy.
